Candy Candy Candy

Apparently we love candy, we've been to 2 trunk or treats and finished trick or treating tonight!
I was laughing so hard at Jaida's blown up scientist costume from Wednesday night, that hair!
Jenna was happy to be a princess and Logan would NOT take off the dog costume he borrowed from his friend Joel. At least it kept him nice and warm.
The trunk or treat/carnival was a lot of fun Wednesday night, lots of games, goodies and CANDY.
Today we did our trunk or treat with the ward at the circle park, such a perfect day with NO RAIN!
Yippee!
We invited some friends to come along.
We went to H&D's for dinner and trick or treating tonight. Lots of fun and even more CANDY!
This neighborhood knows how to do Halloween, check out the Hogwarts Express!
 Happy Halloween!

So Long, Old Friend

I had to document this momentous occasion.  I remember picking out this green/tan striped couch when I was a teenager with my parents.  I thought it was so great, so hip and cool.  Well, we were the lucky ones to inherit these beauties.  They've been good to us, real good. When we moved to Michigan and I was pregnant with my first baby we didn't have a rocking chair.  I ordered a rocker/swivel attachment that goes on the bottom of chairs, cut off the legs of the chair and added the swivel to it. I rocked all my babies in this comfortable chair. It was the best chair for the kids to ride around and make them dizzy too.  I was actually a bit sad to see it go, more than I thought I'd be, but I am happy to have the new. Now I just need an awesome side table that I can paint a bright color...anyone, anyone?

Project Dining Table

It was time to face the facts, we needed a bigger table, and fast! We had been trying to deny it for too long, poor Logan had to sit on the corner of the last table on a bar stool.  And, guests? Forget about it! My Mom was coming out to visit in a week and a half and we needed to do something. Finally it came together and we were able to come up with this beauty!

Russ pulled up with a van full of wood at about 12:30 on a Saturday and we got to work. We got the whole table and benches made by about 8:30 that night, only a couple hours off for dinner time. Russ and I made a great team building this!
After letting it dry a few days and a good sanding I got to work painting it on a Thursday morning.  I started with this awesome "dewalt" yellow as Russ likes to call it. It is just acrylic paint watered down to go on easier and fast. After the yellow dried I got my dark chocolate brown latex paint and went over the yellow making streaks with the brush. I used a bit of the spray bottle to make it go on smoother and to faster.
The next coat of paint was an acrylic black really watered down, I'd say 50/50, with a sponge...and gloves? Who needs those?!  After the black dried I put 3 coats of polyurethane, used a foam roller, then brushed it smooth.  Sanded between each coat with a 400 grit sand paper.
So loving the new seating arrangement in the kitchen!

Birthday Boy

Logan's birthday was on a Sunday this year, so he got to enjoy feeling the birthday love at church. When we got home it was all business and opening presents.
His first set of small Lego's, and may be his last if I keep finding them all over the place.
We had some friends over for cake and ice cream, which Logan didn't even have any.  He was too busy playing with his awesome monster trucks.

It was so fun to have my Mom out this weekend, it went by way too fast!
Happy birthday, Logan!

Logan Is 4!

Logan is 4 today!  I took these pictures a couple weeks ago at the Nike campus.
Logan is such a fun little kid, he is happy most of the time. His giggle is infectious and makes everyone smile. His sisters can't get enough of him, and he puts up with it...usually. My favorite is that he loves to snuggle.  What a blessing Logan is to our family, hard to believe it's been four years!
 What a handsome little guy!
This jumping picture makes me laugh, he kept sticking his tongue out for some reason.
His favorite park activity is the swing, by far.
Stats: At 4 years old he is 3' 7.5" and weighs 39 lbs.

Gettin' My Craft On

I've had my sewing machine and ironing board out for 2 days now. I cut the black pieces for the banner out of a sheet from target, cut out the grey and yellow and sewed them on. I drew some letters, cut them out of fabric and hot glued them on. For the bats I used freezer paper stencil technique and painted them on.
I also made Logan his "4" shirt for his birthday, and a jet shirt and a "6" shirt for a friend. I'll have to add those another time.
I wrapped my painting above the fireplace with a cheap sheet from target. I ripped it into strips and then stapled on the back of the painting. I cut the bats out of construction paper and taped them up. I think Halloween decor is done, now I can enjoy it...after I finish cleaning up my mess.
