First Day of School 2011
This morning started early, 5:30 for me to get to the gym. I guess when I left the kids heard the garage opening and decided it was time to get up. Russ got them back to bed, but when I came back to shower they were getting dressed a half an hour earlier than planned.
I made swedish pancakes for the kids, because it is their favorite and I thought they'd eat them right up. The nerves were too much to handle I guess because J only ate 1/2 of one and Jenna only ate 2 bites.
Let's face it, I was just as nervous as they were!
Three stomach aches and a few tears was as bad as it got.
All morning long Jaida was carrying her cup around "just in case" she couldn't hold her food down...luckily she threw the cup in the extra bag when we got to her classroom. She was good to go.
Jenna did great too, she was so excited to see her BFF again! I'm so happy they're in the same class again, they're such cuties!
Just before we left Jenna started with a few tears, which didn't help my stomach ache.
Happy to report that they both did great and are excited for their new teachers and classes!

Monkey House
Monday, August 29, 2011
My friend asked me to sign up on Pinterest a few weeks ago, I was hesitant at first but gave in. It's been so much fun to get so many good ideas. I've especially been liking the food ideas, I've been trying a few new things and they've been so good!
The first is a mix of 2 recipes, i called it my Mexican calzone. The second was a Mexican pizza, I used my bread recipe for the dough, salsa, cheese, chicken and black beans. Delicious!

Monster Party
I was invited to a monster party at my friend Heidi's house on Saturday. We had the best time making our little monsters from the pro who taught us. We each got to come up with our own creations and I think they all turned out so cute! I made mine into a little toothpick holder, or a tiny vase. I just wish I could have made it 10 times bigger!
Heidi had me make a cake for the party, I wanted it to match her monster cookie jar she's had. It turned out pretty good, although I'd change a lot of things I did for it. I made the fondant (Thursday), baked the cakes (Friday) and put it all together Saturday morning. I was a nervous wreck until it was on her counter. Such a fun party!

Beach...Again.
We got to the beach and noticed the tide was really low, we went down to explore and found these awesome starfish on the rocks. They were so big!
Here is the same rock in the background a few hours later. I love the hand prints in the sand.
We started a fire to roast marshmallows and made some smores before we left.
One last group shot. It was such a beautiful day at the beach we didn't want to leave!
Friends
We watched our friends kids Saturday, I got a kick out of these two little guys. It was actually really fun to have them over, they entertained themselves and had a good time drawing in the street.

Monkey
We had some friends over yesterday and one of the girls taught Jenna how to climb the pole in the backyard. Now she can't stop climbing it.

Frame
I framed my moms mirrors while in Utah. Here's the before and after. I cut the pieces, painted them front and 1/2 of the back, then glued them to the mirror with liquid nails. I used blue tape to hold the pieces in place until it dried over night.
Bedspread
We painted Logans bed frame which had been sitting in the garage for a few years, he loved the red color! I was nervous at first with the PINK color of the paint, but one more coat of red and and antique glaze finish it made it just right. We didn't have a bedspread for it, so I got a cheap blue and cut out and sewed in the race car. Logan loved it, he kept saying he couldn't wait to sleep with his new race car. Love it!

Oregon Coast
My friend Jillyn and I packed up the kids and headed to the beach yesterday. The weather was going to be perfect, cloudy in the morning and a sunny afternoon.
We gathered driftwood to make a fire, Jacob built us a perfect fire pit. We finally got a small fire going and enjoyed it until all the wood was almost gone.
There was a huge log about 15 yards away and we rolled it on top of our little fire. We were laughing so hard! It actually started on fire and was doing really well until the fire underneath started to go out. We needed more driftwood, but the people next to us were hogging all the wood. ha! Next time we will bring firewood and and s'mores.
The kids did what they do best, play in the sand and build lots of awesome forts.
